Today It´s Data Privacy Day and everyone should take a closer look at who uses your data!

In the more and more digital world is seems to me that “strong” players out there feel they have the right to do what I call collecting and data mining your “privat” information. Listening to some off the players with different answers to the development of privacy earlier today I am happy to say that there seems to be some movement towards making it easier to at least understand what goes on. Next step will be if we think positive to make it easier for all users to have an insight into what information will be or is stored off personal information about you.

I agree with Norwegian Board of Technology and The Norwegian Data Protection Authority that is should be easier to protect the individual and their information via easy-to-use user interfaces. With all the technical talent used on the collecting side, how hard can it be to flipp the “collecting and storing” matrix around for the individual user to be more in control?

There are companies and people out there that do more on the privacy topic than others. One that can be looked closer at is covered in this link. I really thank the ones that not only speak about the breaches but actually make a differens every day on many arenas.

In my opinion it is time to make a difference and think about the data mining that is going on and the market that is growing more and more based on so called “free” services online. Nothing is free… your data is valuable and it is time to take the control back!
