There are many different people, organizations, companies and others with an interest into making it possible to build a new industry in the Data Center (DC) space for the World of compute based in Norway.
The changes that have been made towards making the tax regimes more inline with the outside World now shows that the numbers add more up also for the once that want to walk the “real” renewable track. Yes, Norway has a serious surplus of clean renewable energy with a not only short term nice pricing, but for the ones that also look into the longer term pricing can do even better…
Energy is an important part of the compute business and depending on how you look at it can be hard to “move” around from the source. Looking at all the nice articles the past year on new initiatives an DC business in different parts of Norway it seems like the the changes on taxation has helped on the interest of the companies that “only” look at day to day electrical bill for their business… mining 😉
I have nothing against this business but I do ask the question if maybe we can do better, and more on having also the connectivity business into this game…
The interests groups doing the lobby activities to get some “help” from the right parts of the Government have made a difference in the mindsets of some politicians that maybe can make a difference on creating more connectivity.
What is this connectivity challenge? Well depending on who you ask you will get different answers depending on where they sitt in the value chain.
In my opinion here is where the real work needs to be done, working together in this little country called Norway and for once maybe lower some “ego´s” and see what is really needed. Right now it seems to me the future is bright…but we have forgotten the shades…and where the path should go..
I have initiated an idea on maybe help out on the connectivity challenges we have in Norway. This will be done via N0R5KE Fibre AS a subsidiary of the company on the link. The sole focus for this company is long term connectivity investments. Based on some of my knowledge in this small segmented marked we can make a difference and also the open transparent business model to be used will show that it might be an advantage to co-work on this kind of long term infrastructure.
