What is it with marketing these days..more and more becomes pure spam..in my opinion

Summer is coming to an end and business is picking up more and more. Over summer I feel like I have been spammed inn all electronically based  channels. I had a chat with a partner earlier today and we both had, for once looked at the same TV show. The challenge was keeping the thread with commercial breaks so often it seemed like a joke. My partner just hit the off button and went to bed, me I “survived” but commercial TV channels.. I am done!

Now what other channels are spamming us, beside webpages, email (if unlucky to have used a “real” email addy..), radio, etc, etc..

I have asked my self who the companies are that use this kind of noise to bring forward what they should believe is a good product/service. In Norway it seems the Telcos and their mobile services are the ones with the highest “spam” budget. They are all over the place and the message is the same; save 1$ pr month 😉

I do not know much about marketing, sorry, but I am a consumer and have an idea about some of the products the Telcos are trying to explain to me why to change..

In my ears it is just spam and looking back at some of the earlier campaigns I wonder what they delivered back then when they now say they are reaching close to 100% coverage.. Looking at the old campaigns (If you can find them…) you will see that re-writing the message an calling it something else…or just whispering the real message is the way to go…

How can we ignore this “spam” in all channels? Looking at the browser world and the development like what Apple seems to be thinking about there might be some new business models evolving?

I have written about this theme earlier at this Infragreen post.

I for one think some smart people out there soon will find a solution where consumers and businesses can meet in a market space where real business can be made and not like for me..some of the advertising companies just makes it more difficult to sell anything to me..

regards

bjørn
